Prom Alt and other things

As always, it's been a long month, so I cannot exactly remember what I have done. But I do know that Prom Alt took place! For those who don't know what Prom Alt is (I know everyone who reads this blog knows what Prom Alt is, but I felt like explaining it), it is a place to have a crazy awesome time. It is not protesting Prom in anyway. Well, maybe it is protesting the select group of Prom goers who do stupid, dumb butt things after Prom is over.
Anyways, it is really an excuse to get all dressed up and have the leaders see how many different ways they can embarrass us. Let me explain. Every year, they just HAVE to take us bowling. So there we are, most of the girls in full length dresses, trying to bowl. I love it. (I might just be saying that because I broke 100, and usually that doesn't happen. And I was wearing a full length dress too, booya!)

We aren't protesting Prom, but I do think Prom Alt is a whole bunch more fun than Prom is. You are saying to yourself, how do you know? You haven't gone to prom. You go to Prom Alt every year. All that is very true, but I did talk to my friends who did go to Prom. Now lets see what you would rather do. Would you rather (Would Hugh Rather) sit in line for two hours waiting to take your picture, or be on the Tilt-a-whirl having a ball? Spinning isn't your thing? Well, how bout this. Would you rather be waiting in another line for two hours waiting to go on the Grand March, or run through the dark with a laser gun and shoot your bestest friends? Laser tag isn't or thing either, huh? I have another one for you. Would you rather spend a good amount of money where dinner and such is not even included, or pay a good amount of money, but dinner, a whole bunch of other stuff, and COLDSTONE is included. Well, there you have it.

Now for some pictures:

Brooke and Nate. Aren't they cute?

Mark, quit talking to the ketchup. It's not that intelligent.

Brookie and I. She's so purdy.

Yentle/Sheldon/Kari and me.

Brooke, Liz, and I decided a while ago that we would all wear our bridesmaid dresses to Prom Alt. And we did. We should have taken the picture Charlie's Angels style, but we forgot.

Me and my brother. He's good people. He did my hair real nice.

The Plutes. Thanks for putting on a great night!

And I just really wanted to put a picture of Amber Shain on here. I love that woman. She is the absolute best!

The other things:

The other things is really just a trip down to the cities to visit our friends at NCU. I only have four pictures and brief explanations. Here goes:

The beautiful Miss Melanie Plute let us crash in her dorm. Isn't she nice?

Micah and Josh Steen (not Dean, lol). Micah we had met previous to our trip, but Josh we met on this trip. His parents were missionaries in Spain, so he knows Spanish. Say quesadilla.

Micah leaving messages on Matt Hagsten's phone while he was at work. One of the messages was from a creepy uncle, another was a gay boy named Robbie from Vancouver, and the third was a call from the Govenator. I know, the last one doesn't seem very original, but it was freaking hilarious. I don't care what you say. I forgot my number, but I think it is 866-52Schwarzenegger. It doesn't get any better than that.

Here we are. The crazy Hibbingites that the people at NCU try to ignore but just can't. Well, except Molly. She's the one taking the picture. And Jason doesn't count cuz he goes to the U of M. So, he's there all the time. But yes, Mike, Brooke, and I. We're crazy....

Contest!

I absolutely, positively know what happened in the month of March. And it still is March! Someone should give me a present. Or make me some waffles.

Anyways. You know there is March madness, well there is also a form of March madness for choir. It was craziness last week. On Wednesday, there was choir contest in Grand Rapids. My choir was not prepared, at all. But we still pulled it off and got a Superior rating (which is the best if you haven't heard). One judge even gave us a perfect score!

Then on Saturday, it was solo and ensemble contest. That was whole bunches of fun. It was held in Duluth. We had to leave at 6:30 in the morning. That was whole oodles of fun. Many people were sleeping, so we took pictures of them. One kid was even sleeping in the middle of the aisle on the bus. It was really funny.

Anyways, we got to UMD and my trio was first up at 9:00. The judge wasn't there yet, and we did our warm ups and we needed to burn a few minutes. So I sat down at the piano and played and sang anything that came to mind while the other two in my group danced around the room. Then Mrs. Stoddard came sprinting into the room (she was warming up with another group) and sat down at the piano. We warmed up a little more, and then the judge came in. We sang our little song ("The Violet", not that any of you know the song), and we thought we did well. The most hilarious thing about it was, the judge said that our second soprano wasn't loud enough (it wasn't me, I am the alto). The judge must have had hearing problems cuz she is the loudest one of the bunch. Singing and just talking. She's in Speech, so she talks a lot. That is not a stereotype.

So we were really hyper. We had changed into our Northern Lights outfits for our trio performance, cuz we thought it would be nice to be matching. So we were still wearing our Northern Light's dresses, but we had to keep them on because the N.L. hadn't performed yet. So we were just skipping everywhere because we were so relieved that our song was done. We really didn't care how the N.L. did as long as the trio went well. So we were pretty much care free at that moment. We went around and wished the other groups from our school good luck. Then we ran into a group that contained a good friend of mine (star player of B.S.O.E.). They were about to perform, so the trio decided we were going to go watch them. But on our way to the room, my friend Rachel (the second soprano), leaned over and asked me, "Hey, isn't that your friend Ian?" And by golly it was. He is from Grand Rapids and I hadn't talked to him for a long time. I wanted to talk to him at large group contest, but there wasn't any time. So I ran over there and hugged that kid. He kind of looked like a deer in the headlights when I was on my way over. So, we sat there and talked for a while, and he looked like he wanted to run away, but I wouldn't let him. Then he introduced me to his friends Bob and Gabe. Bob tried to use the force on his lunchbag, but it didn't work. I told him I knew how that felt. Then, it was time for the Northern Lights to warm up.

We warmed up and it seemed like it was gonna be crap. We had fun dancing though. After the warm up we heard that we could go downstairs to see our score from earlier in the day. My trio got a Superior. Booya!

Then it was time for the Northern Lights to perform. I thought we did just all right. We sang a song called "Trickle Trickle", and we also sang "Everything I Own" by Bread. Only it was arranged chorally by some other guy.

After our performance we got changed and went on the bus. We all waited in anticipation for Mrs. Stoddard to get there and tell us what the Northern Lights got. It seemed like she was still in the school for like an hour. It was killing me. Finally, we saw her walking towards the bus. She seemed happy. She said that she was able to get all but one score (no it wasn't the Northern Light's score), and someone would bring it to Hibbing someother time or something. She said she was gonna pass around the folder with all the scores in it to see what we got. We weren't having any of that. My friend yelled out, "What did the Northern Lights get?!" Then she told us we got a Superior. Sigh of relief from all.

We went to the Miller Hill Mall on our way back. I was gonna get real food, but then my friend informed me that she had never been to the following stores: Aeorpastle, American Eagle, and probably a lot of other ones, but those are the two she told me. So we had to go at least to those two stores. By the time we got to American Eagle, we didn't have a lot of time left so we headed back to the food court. I felt like I only had time to get something from the DQ. So, I got an Oreo Cheesquake Blizzard. I know you all desparately wanted to know that. We went to the bus and sat there for like ten minutes and realized we probably could have gotten real food. Oh well.

The bus ride home was like whatever. Not very eventful. I got home, crashed on the couch, and gradually fell asleep.

What a great day.

February...what happened in February?

I seriously can't remember what happened in February. You all know I cheat and post in the next month, but I just have to have a full archive. I absolutely, positively, cannot remember what I did in the month of February. Nothing worth posting anyways. sigh. Do any of you know what I did in the month of February? Forget it. No one comments on this blog anyways.

Happy New Year!

Haha. Just kidding about the whole quitting thing. See, I couldn't do it. I gave in. I love delighting people with a new post. No matter how lame the post is, readers just love to have new posts.

Me and my girls early New Year's Day :D

Okay, a little shout out to the Plaid Power blog. I think my most recent post is way better on that one. And I don't want to duplicate it here. Are you calling me lazy? Well, you are the one who isn't willing to just go over to the link bar and click on it. So there.

I'm closing my blog...forever.

It's been a good run. I just don't seem to have the time to post anymore. Thank you for all who have read my blog in the past, and thank you to those who are reading this right now. I don't know why I'm thanking you. Actually, it's kind of bizarre that i'm thanking people that have wasted their time reading about my day. Well, okay, I've had some interesting posts, and some cool pictures, and some inside jokes. As fun as it has been, i'm closing my blog forever...

But sometimes when [people] say "forever" they just mean, "a really long time"...

I thought this was funny

My dad has a slideshow as a screensaver for his laptop. I was sitting at the kitchen table hugging a box of cocoa pebbles and watching the slideshow. Then I saw this picture.

This picture should probably be split in half.

Homecoming 2007

I haven't posted in a while. I know. Here I am now. I guess I've been busy with school, work, and music things lately.

Brooke and I decided to take pictures this year for homecoming. The first day Brooke did not have her camera, and she did not have it the last day either. But that is okay.

I really like homecoming week. It was fun. Usually I don't have fun at school, but I did this past week. It'll be kind of dull going to school tomorrow. Everyone will be dressed all boring and normal like, and there won't be that excitement and happiness in the air.

I've never looked forward to Jacket Jamboree Week in my life, but I am this year. I can't wait to feel the excitement and happiness again. It is sad that it only happens two times a year during school. Okay, well maybe a few days before Winter Break. There's usually some excitement there. Oh, and of course a few days before summer starts. I guess what I am trying to say is that there excitement and happiness in the school usually does not happen during a week that is in the smack dab middle of boring no vacation time. If that makes any sense. Happiness.

I'm sorry. I don't know how to get rid of this open space.

Day One: Athletic Gear Day. I do not have a picture. I am sorry. Yes.

Day Two: Twins Day. Brooke and I were twinkies. It was fun. We have barely any classes together, but people did notice that we were twins. I think it was the crowns that tipped them off.

Day Three: Dress Your Best (Black Tie Affair) Day. So pretty much just dress your best in black and white. It was also See You At The Pole that day. Booya!

Day Four: Addam's Family Day. Which really meant Emo Day. But they couldn't call it emo day because emo is a stereotype which is against the rules for homecoming days.

Day Five: School Spirit Day. Yet again, no pictures. I really wanted a picture of me in my Northern Lights dress, but oh well. I'm sure there'll be plenty of pictures at the next concert.

I will leave you with one more picture...

This is Brooke with the Homecoming king. They looked so freaking awesome.

Connect: Sr. High Camp 2 '07

Okay, there's a big empty space here. So I'm filling it.
I'm filling it with Lop De Gross. This pretty much took up most of free time. A bunch of guys jumping on top of each other. And a bunch of girls watching them. And in Brooke's case, taking pictures of them.

MY WORD! There is something seriously wrong. There's another big space that I can't get rid of. AHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Simon Cowell is someone who is definitely blessed with the joy of the Lord.

Terrific. Camp was the bomb. I loved it. I love it every year, yes, but I loved it again this year. It might have been the best camp ever. And guess what, we made it to Friday this year! Woo!

Picture time :D

The topic of most conversations at the beginning of camp. What the heck is he doing. We found out that he is going to hold a welcome sign.

The peoples in the chapel. Probably playing BS.

Mine and Brooke's knitting students. "Congradulations. World's Best Cup of Coffee...hi."

Hey look, there's Mark, Andrew, Anthony, and Brandon.

Some of my peeps eating breakfast.
Brooke and I taking a picture instead of picking up trash.

Ireland 4

I haven't posted enought lately. I didn't post enough about Ireland. Thus, this post came to life after realizing those two facts.

I couldn't decide what picture to put with this post, so I've decided to choose one at random. Here it goes...

The stone funnel of doom. No one had any idea of what it was. So we all took pictures and said that it was a stone tornado. Of doom. Yes.

Random.

Happy Graduation.

I forgot to post this earlier. I was meaning to, but then I didn't. Happy Graduation Two Weeks Ago Andrew.

My Birthday.

It was my birthday on June 12. Yeah. It was fun. We went swimming and stuff. Then we frosted cupcakes and stuff. Then we watched the Holiday and stuff. Yeah. It was fun.

The football player was my dad's idea. I wanted a ballerina.

Most of the cupcakes ended up in a little dog that I like to call Gina. (She thinks she's so sneaky except for the fact that she leaves candles and wrappers everywhere.)

That's everyone. Except for Brooke. She had to come later.

The cards were really great this year. I liked all of them a lot. But I have to say that Aaron and the Jilb win again. The fam came in a close second though.

And the Jones is delicious.

Prom Alt. 2007: Carib Royale

Prom Alt. was actually back in May. I've decided to post anyways. I don't have many pictures, not many at all. But, because Brooke asked me to, I'm going to put a couple up. Okay? Okay.
Before going.
Admiring flowers.
Walking a dog.
And doing the limbo.
yeah.

It's Summer

I know that technically it isn't summer until later this month, but for my purposes, it is definitely summer.

It hardly feels like school is done until fall. It feels like i should be going back on Monday. This just feels like a nice long weekend. I'm sure come monday it'll be a different feeling.

I give a sigh of relief. No more getting frustrated with the Sopranos in choir. No more taking tests that Harv says will be easy, but are truely hard (and vice versa.) No more doing long packets for World History. NO more wondering if I'll get the 'A' in English. No more wondering if they'll have the green granny smith apples that I like during lunch. No more trying to stay awake while we take notes in Biology. No more listening portions on Spanish tests. No more...until next year. But next year, there'll be different classes and different problems. New things to love and hate.
